Natural Source of Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Supports Cardiovascular Health*

PRODUCT ALSO KNOWN AS
Flaxseed Oil, a-Linolenic Acid (ALA), Linoleic Acid, Oleic Acid.

PRODUCT DISCUSSION
PhysioLogics’ Organic Flaxseed Oil 1250 mg provides an excellent plant source of Omega-3, Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids in one convenient softgel. The Flaxseed Oil used in this product is prepared using a unique cold processing method without the use of solvents. The oil is dispensed and processed under a nitrogen blanket to safeguard it from oxygen exposure, then encased in an amber-colored gelatin shell to continue to protect the active ingredients from white light.

STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION
Flaxseed Oil contains all three polyunsaturated fatty acids, the Omega-3, Omega-6, and Omega-9 fatty acids. The parent essential fatty acid (EFA) molecules are the Omega-6 Linoleic Acid and the Omega-3 a-Linolenic Acid (ALA). Because mammals cannot synthesize the primary EFAs, humans depend on dietary sources to meet their EFA requirements. Both parent EFAs can be desaturated and elongated in the body to form longer chain polyunsaturated fatty acids required by the body.*

EFAs are an integral part of the structure of the membranes of every cell in the body and are precursors to a wide range of biologically important molecules such as eicosanoids, prostaglandins, and leukotrienes, which are required in the regulation of virtually every process in the body.*

Flaxseed Oil contains the most concentrated source of the parent Omega-3 ALA in nature. Studies have shown that Flaxseed Oil-based diets promote a healthy immune system and support healthy cell proliferation. Once ingested, ALA may be converted in the liver to the Omega-3 fatty acids Eicosapentaenoic Acid and Docosahexaenoic Acid, the forms readily used by the body. Omega-3 fatty acids are especially abundant in brain phospholipids and are essential for the development of brain and retina. In addition, Omega-3s are vital for cardiovascular health and circulation.

Flaxseed Oil also contains Oleic Acid, the parent Omega-9 fatty acid. Oleic Acid is a ubiquitous component of tissue glycerolipids, especially enriched in the myelin sheath. It is the precursor to nervonic acid, the most characteristic monounsaturated fatty acid in myelin, and longer fatty acids characteristic of myelin sphingolipids. Lignans are hormone-like phytochemicals found in Flaxseed Oil that may support women’s health. By promoting the synthesis of sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG), lignans help maintain healthy circulating levels of women’s sex hormones, which may support women during PMS and menopause.*

INDICATIONS
Flaxseed Oil provides an excellent plant source of all three polyunsaturated fatty acids, the Omega-3, Omega- 6, and Omega-9 fatty acids. The parent Omega-3 and Omega-6 molecules are essential fatty acids not synthesized by the body and consequently must be supplied by diet. Consumption of Omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. FDA evaluated the data and determined that, although there is scientific evidence supporting the claim, the evidence is not conclusive PhysioLogics’ Organic Flaxseed Oil 1250 mg is a dietary supplement for individuals who want to receive a daily supply of essential and nonessential polyunsaturated acids.*

HOW CLIENTS MAY BENEFIT

  • Delivers more Flaxseed Oil than most Flaxseed Oil supplements.
  • Receive essential components of cell membranes for healthy cell growth.*
  • Promotes healthy membrane phospholipids composition to support membrane fluidity and function.*
  • Obtain a source of lignans, phytochemicals to support women’s health during PMS and menopause.*
  • Obtain a source of all three parent polyunsaturated fatty acids.
  • Supplies nature’s richest plant source of Omega-3 fatty acids, for heart and nervous system health.*

SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH

  • The Physician’s Health Study followed apparently healthy men for up to 17 years. Analysis of the blood indicated that higher levels of Omega-3 fatty acids were found in those with a healthier cardiovascular system and quality of life.
  • Researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health followed over 5,100 women for up to 16 years and found that diets with a higher consumption of Omega- 3 fatty acids were associated with heart health maintenance and quality of life.
  • The Cardiovascular Health Study investigated plasma phospholipids concentrations of ALA in 5,201 people >65 years old. Results suggest that higher dietary intake of ALA is associated with heart health maintenance.
  • A food-frequency questionnaire completed by 76,283 found that diets with a higher dietary intake of ALA supported cardiac health.

SUMMARY
The parent Omega-3 and Omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids are essential nutrients not produced by the human body and consequently must be supplied by diet. Supplementing your clients’ diets with PhysioLogics’ Organic Flaxseed Oil will provide them with the essential and non-essential fatty acids to help support their cardiovascular and nervous systems, as well as overall health.

SUGGESTED DOSAGE
For adults, take one (1) softgel two to three times daily, preferably with a meal, or follow the advice of your health care professional. As a reminder, discuss the supplements and medications you take with your health care providers.
