 To
improve the bioavailability and dissolution of
CoQ10, PhysioLogics has joined forces with
Tishcon Corporation to offer a new process known
as Bio-Solv™ technology that enhances CoQ10
solubility dramatically.
Coenzyme Q10 is a
lipid-soluble compound synthesized in all cells,
primarily from the amino acid tyrosine.
Traditionally, CoQ10 is poorly absorbed by the
body because this coenzyme is only lipid-soluble
and does not dissolve easily in water.
In partnership with
Tischon Corporation, PhysioLogics presents a new
delivery system - Softsules®. This new
technology delivers CoQ10 in a more soluble,
bioavailable form.
A recent study using
human participants compared the new Q-Gel
technology to other dosage forms such as soft
gels, tablets and capsules. Softsules produced a
six-fold increase in plasma CoQ10 levels over
baseline. Results showed that Q-Gels provided
100% dissolution and were up to 300% more
bioavailable than other dosage forms tested.
This increased solubility is measured with USP23
methodology, which measures relative levels of
hydrosolubility (see chart). These results were
presented at the Annual Meeting of the American
Society for Nutritional Sciences/Experimental
Biology in 1997.
