Also we invite all friends to write articles to us which we will keep on website library.

2) My niece phoned me this morning to tell me that I should be listening to BBC Radio 4.   Naturally I switched on the radio and discovered that there was a very interesting programme about Ayurveda.   In the briefest terms it told of the categorisation of body types, and the choice of appropriate food and food ingredients, the availability in Britain of appropriate vegetables, spices and other ingredients and so on.   Unfortunately I had neither pen nor paper to hand and so have no record of the names of the doctors and other people who spoke.

However, the programme was at 1030 am on BBC Radio 4. Apart from that, please accept our seasons greetings and best wishes for the New Year.
Sincerely, Alan Wilson
(Note: Any of you can try to obtain a transcript or recording of this program from Radio station- or even to find out whether the program may be repeated elsewhere in future - Editor )

Question :
I am a regular subscriber of your list. I am suffering from severe phlegm and  sneezing condition for a long time. What should I do for this ailment. thanks. Mr. Weerasooriya
Answer :
Dear Friend,
I would not like to suggest you to go for any medicines right now. No symptomatic medicine will help you for longer period.
For longer relief, cure, you need to take herbs - medicines which are immuno-boosters.
Amla, turmeric and basil all are immuno-boosters.
For such thing I suggest you as following :
1. Take 10 leaves of Tulsi (basil) , 1 Amla fruit and 1 green turmeric (haldi) aprox. 15 gram . Make a fresh juice out of all and drink it everyday morning.
2. If fresh (green) turmeric, amla is not available then you can use dry powders also.
3. Have massage on chest and other affected part with luke-warm Panchguna oil daily, which should be followed by fomentation by cotton bag (potli) of Ajwain (carum seeds).
Still if you need to have any medicine: here are some suggestions;
4. Tablet Septilin (HImalaya) - 2 tab. 2 times a day.
5. Vasavleh - 2 t.s.f. 2 times a day.
6. Tab. Laxmi vilas ras (nardiaya) - (Dabur Co.) - 1 tab. 2 times a day.
I wish you best health. With best wishes and kind regards.
Dr. Prerak Shah

Introduction to Foundation for Indian Systems of Medicine (ISM)

We would like to introduce to you the Foundation for Indian Systems of Medicine (ISM). The Foundation was registered on the 6th of December 2001.
ISM is a non-profit organization which is based in The Netherlands and has the following goals and objectives

Health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. (WHO definition of HEALTH)
The Foundation for Indian Systems of Medicine (ISM) is a platform for professionals by professionals and it has an international orientation.

The Partner Network is a network of professionals who want to commit themselves to the further development of Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Yoga. ISM's aim in creating such a platform is to create an atmosphere of unity, harmony and cooperation. United we are stronger. To cooperate and not compete, to unite our efforts instead of asserting our own individual identity is the spirit of Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Yoga.

Let us join hands and accomplish what no-one has accomplished before. Let us share so as to uplift the whole of humanity and create a better world to live in. Let's do this by setting the right example. Let us help each other as friends do. Let us be free from the bonds of material life while living in it. This is the Partner spirit.

In order to realize the above objectives the Foundation for Indian Systems of Medicine will work with different cooperative partner organizations on a national and international level. Already we are working with NNG (National Nature-based Healthcare-organization), RING (National registration Institute), IUAA (International University Accreditation Association), SIG (Foundation for the Integration of Systems of Medicine), DAO (Foundation for the promotion of Traditional Chinese Systems of Medicine) and the IOU (Intercultural Open University). These organizations will be mentioned shortly on our website.

If you would like to register as a partner of the Partner Network, an Affiliated Organization or Donor you can do so by sending in your email to: ism@samkhya-ayurveda.org
