:: Training Course Opinion  from Ms. Zehra, Tokyo, Japan       Dear Dr. Prerak, As an Ayurvedic student, I have been able to study not only the herbs and ayurvedic massage and beauty tips but also be part of the institution and family. The warmth your family has shown me will never be forgotten. This has been a tremendous experience for me assisting doctor in treating patients. In Japan, I hope to keep all the lessons in mind and help as many people relax and have faith in Ayurveda.

Katu Rasa (Spicy Taste) Katu rasa is produced by Vayu & Agni mahabhoot.

Karmas (action):

  • Increases digestive fire
  • Cleans the mouth
  • Absorbs food particles
  • Secrets kapha by nose & lachrymal
  • Motivates the senses in their functions
  • Relives ama, edema, fat, urticaria, heaviness, oily skin & sweat
  • Demolishes wastes of body (Mala)
  • Relishes food
  • Removes itching, worms, wounds
  • Dilates all passages

Guna(qualities): Laghu (light), Ushna (hot), Ruksha (dry).

Excessive intake can produce:

  • Causes for Moh (stupor), Glani (mental fatigue), Avsad (sluggishness), Giddiness, Vertigo, Excessive thirst, Fever, Throat burn, Shivering
  • Decreases body strength and male sexual competency
  • Aggravates Vata problems

What season impacts on human body and therefore how to conduct so it may not be harmful to health, these points are discussed at length in Ayurvedic textbooks. (Charak Samhita, Sutra Sthan. Chapter 6/ 5 to 9) Overall there are six seasons in India and mainly they are divided in two phases. Six seasons and their aprox. months are;

  1. Shishir              (January / February)
  2. Vasant              (March / April)
  3. Grishma             (May / June)
  4. Varsha             (July / August)
  5. Sharad             (September / October)
  6. Hemant            (November / December)

Phase of first three seasons are known as Aadankal (period of low absorption / low nutrition) and second phase of other three seasons are known as Visargkal (Period of Nutrition) Cont....
