Dear Prerak Shah,
Thank you for your email
which made a very interesting reading matter. I am really happy to see an
Ayurvedic doctor with so much devotion to the subject. Dr. Umadevi of Manipal
Medical College has done a lot of work on WithaferinA's properties in the
treatment of cancer and she told me once that it is very encouraging. –
Narendran.
Can anybody help me to find out
Dr. Umadevi’s e-mail add. Or any published papers / thesis on her work? –

Introduction of Ayurveda (New Series)
Parallel to three doshas
in he body there are three dosas in mind. They are sattva, rajas
and tamas. Based on this there are three types of manas prakriti:
Sattvika
Rajasic
Tamasic
Sattvika Prakriti
Satva means pure. Satva is said to
be guna of mind and not dosa. It leads to knowledge, peace and truth. Sattvika
individual is calm, gentle, kind and thoughtful.. Sattvik mentality leads to
actions performed with selflessness and noble motives. Sattvik mentality leads
to actions, which are noble motives. Sattvik mentality leads to actions, which
are non-egoistic, performed with firmness and enthusiasm. Such individuals are
firm believer of God, devoted to God and perform all the religious and sacred
rituals.
Rajasic Prakriti
Rajas is said to be dosa of mind.
Rajasic individuals are brave, ferocious, cunning, jealous of other people and
not trustworthy. They loose their temper very soon and are aggressive. Such
individuals are hasty in their action and are restless.
Tamasic Prakriti
Tamas usually refers to sleep.
Tamasic individuals have dull mind. They are selfdestructive and do not care
for anyone. Such individuals are lethargic in every action. They do not want
to do any work but just sit down.

Vegetarian - eat traditional Indian food once a day. No smoking, drinking

Was diagnosed with acid reflux/gastritis but medication given to me did
not clear my problem. I am concerned that my problem is more serious and
so I am worried/have stress about this. Preference is for Ayurvedic
treatments/care.
Answer :
Did you tried for fresh
coconut water ? If it works, don't go for any medicines.
1. Tablet Sooktyn - 2 tablets

Tips on Health Care
The indefatigable efforts of
medical and para-medical researchers have undoubtedly revolutionised the
process of evolution in designing newer dosage forms in last 50 years or
so. Complemented by the scientific advances in the field physics,
chemistry, engineering and bio-technology, today we can boast of having
seen the interiors of an atom and studied the functions of quarks and
ducons. The pace is so fast that today’s achievement becomes obsolete
tomorrow. The tragedy of the materialistic growth is that while studying
the human physiology too, we evaluate everything in isolation and then
attempt to find, or establish the link between visibles and
distinguishables often failing to look into the role of certain other
factors which could be indistinct yet, capable of influencing our body
physiology – positively or negatively. Here comes the role of a holistic
approach.
While defining health itself,
Ayurvedic scholars stipulate that besides the proper functioning of doshas
(vital catalytic forces); dhatus (tissue-humoral components); agnis
(biochemical converters) and malas (waste products), it is essential that
the mana (mind) is balanced; aatma (soul) is contented and the indriyas
(sensory and motor organs) are active - for a person to be labelled as
Swastha (healthy).
The diseases are reported to
be due to : i)abuse of health by means of unsuitable diet and bad conduct,
ii) careless attitude by voluntary indulgence into activities detrimental
to health and iii) interaction with hostile external environment or the
effects of advancing age.
The major preventable /
reversible damage caused by the reasons mentioned above maybe grouped into
1. Diseases caused by
disturbed immune system (Immuno-deficiencies)
2. Diseases caused by
hypersensitivity reaction (Allergenicities)
3. Diseases caused by
metabolic errors (such as Obesity and Diabetes).
4. Crippling diseases caused
by underutilised muscles and joints (Rheumatic conditions).
5. Diseases caused by aging
process (AAMDs, Parkinsonism, Meniers, Alzheimer's, etc.)
6. Diseases caused by
indiscriminate use of medicines (Iatrogenicites)
7. Diseases caused by overt or
hidden stress (anxiety disorders, ulcer, I.H.Ds,etc.).
Etio-pathology, pathogenesis,
symptomatology, early diagnosis and the measures to – i) keep them at
bay, ii) check their growth or iii) mitigate the agonies by them may be of
interest to one and all. Major aspect of all the above shall be discussed
with a view to impart atleast some information on achieving partial relief
in chronic ailments.
